Happy March First!

How can it be March already? The daffodils and tulips are up all over town, the Crabapple trees and Japanese Apricots are in bloom and the perinnials in my garden are coming alive. I was late trimming back my roses and it is time to get busy preparing for spring in my gardens. I saw Mrs. Bluebird looking over my facilities and am glad that I remembered to clean out my Bluebird House a few months ago.

I enjoyed being with the North West Sampler Guild and Remote Stitchers for lectures and classes in January and February. Being with stitchers from Hawaii Maryland, Washington state, Michigan, Texas, Florida, Iowa, Indianana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina and other states and even stitchers from Canada as I sit at my dining room table is WONDERFUL!  It is something I could not have imagined doing ten years ago!

I did a 'Cissy's Gentle Pursuit Designs' YouTube video in February and need to plan one for March.  I have several Scottish Samplers and research to add to my Scottish interactive lectures. The amazing 1814 Ten Commandment Scottish Sampler I bought last month that features Linlithgow Castle and the Tower of London is with Julia Brennan, Caring for Textiles in Washington, DC being carefully cleaned and conserved.

The Nashville Needlework Market is underway and it will be a crazy busy time for the designers and the shoppers!  I wish all of my designing friends and their helpers great success. I do reproduce two or three antique samplers a year and create Small items but do not feel that I have enough retail business to attend market on my own. Most of my creative time is spent sharing interactive lectures and classes on Zoom and in person for Sampler Guilds, EGA Chapters, and other needlework organizations. I have been very busy designing and stitching new teaching projects and hope to introduce them soon.

March: I will be Zooming with Tudor Rose Sampler Guild to discuss a Christmas project, and will be presenting an interactive lecture for Kathleen Quirk Keyser of www.salemstitches.com for her Berry Hill Retreat in South Boston, VA, for two days before I will be teaching my Autumn Sampler Compendium for the Western Reserve Sampler Guild.

 

April & May: I'll be with Queen City Sampler Guild on April 6 via Zoom. Materials are coming in for an April class with the Indianapolis EGA Chapter. I am looking forward to flying to Indianapolis to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with a class and lecture. I need to have my 2024 Christmas Ornament to Just Cross Stitch by mid April. I have ordered everything for a late May Victorian Sewing Shoe class with Kindred Spirits Sampler Guild.

 

I so enjoy designing and teaching needlework and am a VERY lucky girl because half of every weekday is spent with my two youngest grandsons! Grandmothering is my FAVORITE occupation and I am so thankful that my children and their families live within ten minutes of my home!

 

Better get back to stitching on those new class projects before I go pick up my youngest grandson at pre-school.
