Ann Clair Tinges was 8 years old when she stitched this wonderful sampler which is part of the MESDA Collection. Her ‘Out of the Box’ spirit is evident in her stitches! 
Why stitch an eagle when you can whip out your water colors, paint one, and sew it to the top of your sampler? 
This is an adaptation of the antique because I charted  the eagle as well as the Satin and Stem Stitch trees in 2x2 Cross Stitch. 
Other stitches: several variations of Cross Stitch and  Satin, Slanted Gobelin, with Cross Stitch over One in the verse. I used the beautiful colors from the back side of the sampler and have included DMC and Soie de Alger conversions.
