Margaret was only 9 years old when she stitched this vibrant sampler in 1793. Her parents had lived in Germany and Scotland before coming to America prior to the Revolution and the influence of those countries is evident in this sampler. It is executed primarily in Cross Stitch with a few areas of Rice Stitch. The squiggles in the border vine and around the verse cartouche can be done in Back Stitch or Double Running
